WTP works on MBBR Technology
Project Management Consultants:
NJS Engineers India Pvt. Ltd

First of its kind in south Asia, the water treatment plant works on moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) technology. NJSEI  has conceptualized, designed, supervised and Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam established the plant under JICA Assisted Agra (Gangajal ) Project at Agra.

The major processes of Gangajal WTP include Tube Settler, MBBR and UF Membrane Filtration to treat Yamuna River Water containing high Color, BOD, ammonia and nitrate for producing potable water. NJSEI has employed an innovative design approach for the treatment of Yamuna water for drinking purpose. The main treatment scheme involves the use of MBBR with aerobic and anoxic reactors and membrane filtration process. The scheme has resulted in a low facility capital cost and minimal plant footprint without the sacrifice of reliability, dependability or an efficient O&M plan. Additionally, the design is compliant with the Client’s requirements which specify a conservative plant design to ensure successful plant performance throughout the plant life.
